August 2007: Hybrid Audio Absolutely Dominates Car Audio Competition
Like No Other Speaker Manufacturer
Once
again it has been shown, in the most emphatic way, that the car audio
speaker manufacturer that continues to dominate in organized car audio
competitions in the USA and abroad is Hybrid Audio Technologies.
With five cars in attendance at the recent Elite Summer Nationals, held
in Spartanburg, South Carolina on August 11-12, 2007, Team Hybrids
members Andy Jones, Dave Brooks, Jason Pellino, Hajji Grape, and John
Marsh went on to dominate like no other speaker manufacturer with wins,
high placements, and the coveted MECA "Best of Show - Sound Quality" in
two competition formats.
First
year competitor Dave Brooks, a do-it-yourself installer, won every
format he competed in, as well as the highest honor that can be given to
a sound quality competitor in MECA competition: Best of Show - Sound
Quality.

To
achieve the Best of Show - Sound Quality honor, Dave bested every other
car in attendance, including multiple former MECA World Champions and
stalwart competitors. Dave's total composite score between the
three MECA sound quality judges was 84.5 out of a possible 100, which is
one of the highest scores given at a regional event so far this
year...all for a rookie competitor that built his truck in his driveway
at home.
John Marsh brought the heat in the highest professional-division class
in organized competition, and came away with a Regional Championship in
IASCA, Runner-Up in MECA, and second place overall in the IASCA "Top 25
Best of Show" competition, which pitted the competition's best of the
best against each other in a no-holds-bared, round robin competition
with four sound quality judges.

Speaking of the "Top 25 Best of Show" competition, John placed second
out of twenty three cars, losing by 0.125 points (yes, 1/8 point), as
averaged between four judges and more than 1,000 score sheet points.
This result was even in despite of some system difficulties not realized
until well into the competition, after the judging sequence had started.
We can only imagine what the results may have been if the car had been
dialed in the way it was the day before for his regional championship in
IASCA competition against proverbial champions.
Team
Hybrids member Andy Jones debuted his new competition car, a 2007 Nissan
Altima. Andy placed 3rd in the Semi-Pro IASCA competition, with an
unfinished installation, and a car tuned in the competition lanes!

We expect
big things out of this proverbial champion as he finishes the
installation, and gets the car set-up and tuned properly.
The Elite
Summer Nationals also saw the return of an old-school IASCA powerhouse
competitor, Hajji Grape.

After an
approximate five year hiatus from the competition lanes, Hajji Grape,
former IASCA World Finals runner-up in 1999, returns with his 2004
Mitsubishi Eclipse, placing 5th in Semi-Pro Street, and 12th overall in
the
"Top 25 Best of Show" competition with an apparent mistake in his
composite score. Recalculating Hajji's score would have placed him
deep into the top-10 of champions.
Our final competing Team Hybrids member, last but certainly not least,
is Jason Pellino with his 2003 Lexus IS300. Although Jason was
unable to attend the show, his installer Jeff Smith ran the car through
the lanes after a good thorough tuning, and Jason won 2nd place in the
highly contested Street Amateur class, and a whopping 6th place overall
in the "Top 25 Best of Show." In fact, Jason's car was scored at
288 points by Chris Orblom, IASCA judge and international judge
instructor. After the results had been handed out, Mr. Orblom was
quoted as saying "that green Lexus was absolutely incredible."
Excellent compliments from such a highly skilled and respected judge!
